For the first time since 2013, the University of Manchester and the Manchester Metropolitan University will faceoff against each other in an ice hockey match! The 'Battle Of Oxford Road' will take place on Saturday 22nd March 2025 with the match starting at 17:00.

About the event
For the first time since 2013, the University of Manchester and the Manchester Metropolitan University will faceoff against each other in an ice hockey match!
The 'Battle Of Oxford Road' will take place on Saturday 22nd March 2025 with the match starting at 17:00. Whilst not yet officially a part of the newly founded Manchester Varsity program, the event fully-backed by both universities will see the usual joint-university Manchester Metros club split into two as they pull on the iconic colours of the UoM purple and MMU 'blorange'!
Being held at Planet Ice Altrincham, a 2000+ seater ice hockey arena in Greater Manchester, the first UoM vs MMU ice hockey event in over a decade will showcase the best student ice hockey players that Manchester has to offer, putting them head to head as they aim to bring glory to their university!
